Hydrofacial vs Hydradermabrasion: Which Facial Is Right for Your Skin?
Two of our most popular treatments have confusingly similar names. Both are water-based, both leave you glowing, and both have no downtime. But they do different jobs, and knowing the difference helps you book the right one.
Hydrofacial: hydrate and infuse
A hydrofacial is a multi-step treatment that cleanses, gently exfoliates, extracts congestion with light suction, then infuses the skin with hydrating serums. It's the treatment we recommend when skin is dehydrated, dull or stressed, and it's safe for sensitive and reactive skin.
Best for: dryness, dullness, sensitivity, first-time facial clients, and anyone wanting an instant glow before an event.
Hydradermabrasion: resurface and clear
Hydradermabrasion uses a jet of water and oxygen with a diamond or abrasive tip to physically resurface the top layer of skin while flushing out pores. It's more active than a hydrofacial and gives a deeper exfoliation, which is why it's so good for congested, oily or textured skin.
Best for: blackheads, enlarged pores, rough texture, mild acne, and skin that feels "thick" or congested after winter.
Side by side
- Sensitivity: hydrofacial is gentler; hydradermabrasion is more active
- Congestion: hydradermabrasion wins
- Hydration: hydrofacial wins
- Downtime: none for either
- Frequency: hydrofacial every four weeks; hydradermabrasion every four to six weeks
- Before an event: hydrofacial the week of; hydradermabrasion at least a week out
Can you combine them?
Yes, and many clients alternate: hydradermabrasion one month to clear, hydrofacial the next to nourish. Both also pair well with LED therapy, which we can add at the end of either treatment.
If you're in Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra, Googong or Bungendore and can't decide, book a facial and tell us your main concern when you arrive. We assess your skin first and adjust the treatment to suit.
Still not sure which to book? Choose either and we'll tailor it to your skin on the day.
